They offer Eco-friendly lodging packages year round, with a bunch of cool activities to do, that suit the season. I wanted the sign I designed to correctly reflect their service, and make it suitable for all seasons. Visual Texture and Colour were the key design components to making this project ‘pop’ – how do you think it turned out ??

It’s not often these days where I get a chance to do that – so when I do, its always a little exciting. I say that, because I see designing things for myself as somewhat of a challenge. Going into a design with no direction with a client generally raises some red flags – but when it’s for yourself, it puts you outside of your own box, and forces you to innovate, not only with your visuals, but your message as well.

So when I started to put this together – I had a few things on my mind. One of them being my work, as this is usually a topic floating around in my head for one reason or another. Apart from that, I was also half-watching the movie CaddyShack with Bill Murray at the time. It was here that I saw the ‘Orion Pictures’ intro animation from the 80′s, which had me thinking about stars and space imagery (A theme I play with often).

Well, one thing led to another, and eventually I came up with what you see here. The message is an excerpt from a poem I wrote in high school, and holds some cryptic meaning with me.
